Mumbai And Delhi Are Among The Top 100 Student Friendly Cities Of The World For The 1st Time

While India keeps producing brilliant minds in the fields of education, engineering, medical and arts, our universities and colleges never get recognised amongst the best in the world. This leads to a lot of Indian students heading to foreign nations for studying despite having some of the best centers to study in India.
In a positive start, two major Indian cities have been included in the list of the most student friendly cities of the world.

For the first time ever, Mumbai and New Delhi have been ranked in the top 100 student friendly cities list by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). While Mumbai has been placed 85th, Delhi is just behind at the 86th spot in the prestigious list.

A total of 125 cities were analysed for the rankings.

Canada’s Montreal has grabbed the top spot in the list while Paris and London have secured the second and the third places respectively.

The cities have been ranked based on their performance in six different indicators namely, affordability, desirability, student mix, rankings, employer activity and student view. Here are the Top 10 cities.

Both the Indian cities have fared well in the affordability and employer activity indicators. Ben Sowter, head of research at QS says,

“We have ranked the most attractive cities for international students and while the two leading Indian metro cities are certainly on the map, given the huge domestic demand of university places, the focus is principally on serving local students.”

Let’s hope more Indian cities feature in the list and grab top spots in the years to come.
