New leak details Nokia 8 launch date, specs and price

Nokia 8

Nokia didn't launch a flagship device at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event. In fact, all the devices launched there -- the Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and Nokia 3310 are placed below the Nokia 6, which is already selling like nuts in China.
But that didn't kill the flagship Nokia is at works with, at least in the rumour mill. A new leak out of China's mydrivers and reported by gsmarena, claims that Nokia is working on a Snapdragon 835 based top end device -- known as Nokia 8 till now -- and that it will be launched sometime in June this year.
Most of the Snapdragon 835 based smartphones rumoured since last year has been pushed to the second half of this year. Reason? Samsung bagged the chipset production and decided to keep all of the initial yields for its upcoming Galaxy S8 flagships, eliminating the competition. Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Xiaomi Mi 6, ZTE Gigabit, Microsoft Surface Phone are all Snapdragon 835 based smartphones that saw a delay in launch. Nokia 8 could be one of them.
Similar to how Samsung and Apple have been launching their flagships in two different screen sizes and slight variants in hardware, Nokia 8 will also come in two variants, claims the leak. They will be powered by Qualcomm's top-end chipset Snapdragon 835 with 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively. The price of both the smartphones are also guessed to be CNY 4,000 or more (around Rs 38,700) and CNY 4,500 (around Rs 43,500).
Cameras will be a major focus on these devices, as reported earlier as well. Nokia 8 is said to have a 23-megapixel rear camera, but the latest development has it that the optics from will not be from Carl-Zeiss or PureView. The cameras though will not be puny. Rather, they could be what Sony has used on the Xperia XZ (or the XZ premium?) for they too have a 23-megapixel sensor. The bigger size variant is expected to have a dual camera.
Like Nokia's recently launched smartphones, Nokia 8 would come with Android Nougat 7.0 pre-loaded. It will have a metal unibody design as most leaked images have shown us. The phone might come to India late this year.
