AAP appoints Gopal Rai as new Delhi Convenor

After disappointing performance in MCD, many senior leaders along with Mr. Pandey resigned from their positions.

Delhi's Development Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Mr. Gopal Rai, has been appointed as the new Delhi convenor of the party. The decision was made a day after Mr. Dilip Pandey resigned from the position, taking responsibility for the party's poor performance in the municipal elections.
Mr. Rai was handed over the new position on Thursday, in a meeting of legislators at Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
“Mr. Gopal Rai has been asked to take up this responsibility. The decision was taken by the mutual consent of the party leadership,” a senior AAP leader told The Hindu.
The meeting was called by Mr. Kejriwal in the morning, mainly to address the newly elected councillors from AAP. Sources said that Mr. Kejriwal told the councillors to work with utmost dedication for the people of their wards.
